Addendum to my previous review on 1/6/07.

Have since added a good, but not expensive ($80.00) red-dot sight, with multiple aiming patterns and brightness levels, and custom, wood grips. The rig gained 8 ounces and now weighs a solid and steady holding 2 lbs 13 ounces. Accuracy, which was already very good, improved. After several thousand shots, trigger pull is considerably lighter than before, and while some creep is still present, the lighter pull makes trigger letoff better overall. There have been no malfunctions or problems of any kind and I have no regrets about having purchased it.

This is a cool peice. It’s not hard to shoot up a lot of pells, so load up. 40-45 good shots from 1 co2 seems to be the norm (pre-modify). I don’t care about the grouping of shots but they all find the center spot at 60ft with a BSA red dot sight, and that using Daisy pells. Valocity is pretty good as it knocked a squirrel out of a tree at 55ft. My cocker spaniel did the rest. Great fun for the $$$$. As to the rest. The factory grips are crap, to bad you need some; spend the $$ or take on a project and carve your own. The trigger shoe looks funky but it really does help in the comfort department. I ordered mine w/o the red-dot or scope. Damn, i at least expected it to have an open rear site on it, or something. The front site is a peice of plastic that falls off if it catches a bump on the draw (front site, no rear, go figure). I fault Crosman for that. One Shot One Kill or your prey may run away. The time it takes to load this thing gets better with practice and can be done by touch. The problem is the orientation of the pell which makes you have to take your eyes off the target. A 10+ shot magazine would be great. This is a fun gun in .22, try one for yourself. Load up on Pells and CO2

I special ordered my .177 with 10 inch Walther Barrel attached to a long steel breach, Cocobolo grips, a silver trigger shoe and silver muzzle. It is a showpiece that shoots near perfection with the silver BSA pistol scope I added. Cost was under $175 total. Totally impressed, I immediately ordered a second one. A 2240 in .22 with, Crosman’s ridiculous 24 inch barrel attached to a long steel breach, a brass muzzle to match the trigger and a carbon fiber looking skeleton stock. This too shoots near perfect with the tiny Tasco red dot I added. It’s is a riot to look at and even better to shoot. Total cost this time under $125. The website claims 2-4 weeks and I’ve recieved both in under two weeks. No complaints! Thank you Crosman for offering this.

CROSMAN CUSTOM SHOP, MODEL 2300 CAL .22 LENGTH with 7 1/2″ barrel and muzzle brake: 12 inches WEIGHT with long, steel breach: 2 lbs. 5 oz. VELOCITY, chronographed @ 3 ft., Temp. 72 Deg.,14.3 Gr. pellet: Avg. 441 FPS. ENERGY: Avg. 6.17 Ft. Lbs. ACCURACY: One inch, 5 shot groups @ 25 Yds. over a sand bag rest. Similar in accuracy to my bull-barreled, target-grade, semi-auto .22 rimfire pistol costing 5X as much; this gun is more accurate than most shooters can hold. This pistol is fun, affordable and dependable. I mainly shoot this piece indoors as a means to keep my marksmanship with firearms at a high level, conveniently, quietly, and inexpensively. But the 2300 has been such a treat, that once you begin a session it’s hard to stop–it’s like eating peanuts! The 2300 is a REAL gun: it has the accuracy, size, weight, balance, feel and look of a real gun, even if lacking in really lethal power. And its construction appears robust enough for it to be past down to the next generation. I am not affiliated with the Crosman Corp. in any way; these are my honest opinions, take them for what they are, and like always: YMMV.

I give it a 5, no doubt about it. I have recorded accuracy from my custom 2300 with a .22 14.5″ Crosman barrel using CPs at .18ctc at 18 yards rested. Power is adequate and number of usable shots are into the 40’s per 12g cart. It can be easily modded for more power if desired. Order it how you want it (metal breech, engraving, barrel size, cal., grips, ect..) and you have a customized pistol that is easy on your wallet. Stop reading this and go order one!
