My Dad had a Benjamin air rifle as a boy during the depression. I remember it as a kid though I never fired it. But it did work.

That said when my son wanted his first air rifle 15 years ago we got a Benjamin Pellet Rifle which he became a very good squirrel hunter with.

OK, I’m getting to the point.

So he wanted a pistol and bought the HB17. Became very handy with it also, until he left it outside for several days in the rain. Don’t ask how.

He said it wouldn’t work anymore and I asked to let me try and revive it. It had slight corrosion, very slight, mostly cosmetic. I cleaned it up and discovered the issue was two pellets jammed in the barrel. Kids, right? Using a SS rod I popped them out, cleaned it and it works like new.

Good workmanship. Not cheap Chinese crap. You get what you pay for.

FWIW, my son said I could keep it. Rogue squalling tomcats beware!

Cheers.

Good air pistol for those who don’t mind all the pumping. Earlier versions had a rounded pump handle, this model has a slimmed down version that results in hand pinching if you’re not really careful.

Accurancy is great but I still wish they’d put a bolt on the thing instead of that turn mechanism!

Well heres an old friend I remember from a time when Crossman 357 models were just going through their second facelift. Benjamin Sheridan did a fine job for getting us a good starter gun..( You can’t rapid fire this one so you became a better shot) it handles like a fine pistol should, not much for looks, but neither was my first date.. I believe you will like this gun for backyard plinking, but since it only fires one at a time, you may get bored …
