Obviously not a hunting gun – unless you’re after sparrows, but it is a classic little lever action airgun. We use ours for chasing off dogs, and for plinking in the backyard, it lasts a good when considering  that you can get a new on for thirty bucks, and the accuracy is surprisingly good.

It is worth the price, and the replacement. I got one as my first “gun” for Christmas when I was seven, and we recently got a new one nine years later, which can be used to teach my little sister (who is nearing seven) and is just plain fun to shoot cans and pesky dogs with.

found a ‘newish’ one for $20 at a local flea market… had read horror stories about jamming, etc., so i didn’t expect much… downloaded the manual, bought some BBs, and threw a dozen into the gun…

download a target image, printed it, then set up at 20 feet… using the NRA freehand standing position, i hit a 10, 9, 8, three 7s, two 5s, and a four, with my first shot off up and to the left – used Kentucky windage to center in…

if handled carefully, it looks like this little gun will provide lots of inexpensive fun!

I bought one because my Crosman 2200A broke, in the first week I sawed off the stock, the sights broke off and I killed about a dozen birds. Fun for all ages and take the sights off you’ll learn quick draw and how to aim off the side of the gun.

While very popular from a standpoint of nostalgia,I never thought the Red Ryder could even come close to the Daisy Model 25 pump.As a Kid of the 1940’s and 50’s I always had one or the other.Since the power is not that great but about equal in them I found a real advantage with the Model 25 because of speed in rapid firing.I would think that Daisy would do as well if they were still cranking out the Model 25.As a kid I was as good with a Model 25 pump as the TV cowboy hero,”The Rifleman”.Who knows, maybe I’m still that good.

very fun to plink with! Or chase off limb chickens. (tree rats) my wife bought me one as a joke at Christmas a few years ago and I use it more than my springer or multi pump. Lots of fun.

If you keep in mind what the Red Ryder is (a low powered BB gun) is one of the best buys out there.

I bought the Red Ryder for my sons 7th birthday a few months ago. I have an Avanti 853c for indoor target practice and a Slavia 630 for plinking. I try and hone my shooting everyday by putting 30 or 40 rounds through the Avanti (I have built a 10m range in our basement). Invariably, if I have the time, after I’m finished with the Avanti I find myself putting up a couple of more targets and grabbing my sons Red Ryder and plinking for another 15 or 20 minutes.

Just a lot of fun…

This gun is not for hunting but it is a great gun for plinking. It is one of the best guns for beginners. It is good to teach young kids gun safety. Beginners
