Initially my example of this gun performed very well.Shot reasonable groups with a decent shooting cycle for this price point.Things suddenly took a turn for the worst and the accuracy deteriorated badly.Thought I’d found the problem when I discovered the pivot screw witch secures the barrel to the boby of the rifle was lose.I removed said screw cleaned the treads with alcohol (inner and outer) and applied blue lock tight to the pivot screw. Although accuracy did improve it was not up to the original performance .The pivot screw loosened again so I made a set of brass thrust washers to help stabilize the barrel, lubed with a high grade Moly grease and red locktighted the pivot screw. Not much of an improvement was noted so I severed my relationship with this gun.I see potential in this rifle wasted by QC problems I didn’t feel like warranted any more of my time or effort to resolve.Obviously their are some good examples of this gun out there but thought you might want to know there are some poor examples like mine. This is not the first example of a Crosman springer’s that have disappointed me but it was the last. It’s a shame because Crosman customer service is very good but I don’t need the agravation I’d rather be shooting. My advice if you want to give one a try ,buy locally from some one with a generous return policy.

I’ve had this rifle for about 18 months now. It shoots well, had adequate power, reasonable accuracy. The price was well within reason. Now after about 6500 rounds the spring has given up the ghost. My next step will be to send it “Charlie for a turbo tune ,maccari spring, and upgrade trigger. I belive it is the least expensive .22 air rifles you can actually hunt with.I would still reccomend it as a first hunting air rifle, as I shoot more in a year than most in 10.

This is by far the best $99.00 rifle I have bought. The stock has great grain, and the metal parts are well finished. Straight from the box it shot excellent! The only change I made was to put one of Charlie’s triggers in…A definate plus+++!!!!I have shot over 3000 (6 tins)of pellets through it, with not a single problem. The RWS Superpoint 14.5 gr. work very well. I bought mine through Bass Pro Shops. Have Fun!

Well, after returning the Crosman 1000x because of it being so loud, the 800x is amazingly different. The only noise you hear is the mechanical action and whatever you hit. I would have rated this a 5 if it were not for the need to do a complete cleaning job on the rifle before shooting. It had junk all over every metal part on it (to protect it from rusting??).

After putting about 100 rounds through it, it is now rock solid. It will go clean through a 3/4″ piece of pine and still cause damage behind it. Now it is time for the rabbits!! 🙂

Excellent finish on the stock, quiet shooting, easy loading.
