I purchased this gun as an inexpensive project. My plan from the beginning was to add a rifled barrel. It’s a direct swap from an MK177 part # MK177-010. I thought it was a $9 swap with an M144 barrel but Crosman told me the superseding # is $12 from the MK177. Crowned cleaned and installed it transforms this gun completely.

This fun little inexpensive project has resulted in a fun little shooter that will cloverleaf at 10 yards and hit all of my spinners within 20 yards and fun is what it’s all about when it comes to these inexpensive guns.

This gun will never see a bb run through it, pellets only and the 5 clip cart is really convenient.

Constantly trying different pellets is fun. 5 expensive wads,  for close range accuracy, then cheap ones for comparison.  5 cheap domed for distance, expensive domes for comparison etc… Playing with weights skirt diameters head diameters all result in a different behavior.

It still needs some sort of breech sealing as I think I’m loosing some FPS at the probe from an inherently poor design that I will look at improving.

I’ve found the new plastic assembly to be sturdy and not very flexible which is good for shot to shot consistency. a problem with the older models I’ve read.

Easy to pump variable 5 shot clip and now accurate. Not recommended for hunting in any situation. JMO. If that’s what you find fun look elsewhere at a more powerful gun.

I Can’t express accurately how much fun I’m having at the moment.

$12 sheets of Camo wrap just for aesthetic fun, 3x scope has been replaced with a 4×32 AO. Better still!

Small sz.Recoil pad just for a butt extension worked out perfect.

I got mine at a flea market for 30 bucks. Turns out you can get a brand new one for a couple dollars more at Wal-Mart. Anyways, I had this for 2 years I think and and it worked perfectly. A couple weeks ago, air started hissing out of the barrel every time I pump it. My little sister was playing with when all of a sudden she DROPS IT (but thin was before it started hissing air). so when she dropped, I realized that the part that you put your finger on when you are cocking it broke off. To me, I kind of like this rifle because it is light and pumping is very easy.

This was my favorite toy for most of my childhood. My brother and I had matching rifles and scopes.

Our deck overlooked a wooded hill. I typically set up little green army men 40 yards away and could hit them most of the time with BBs. I hardly ever used pellets because BBs were accurate enough. Whenever I saw a bee hive in a tree, I would pump the gun up 10 times and load 6 to 8 BBs down the muzzle and I had a bee hive-shredding shotgun! It was strangely exciting to stir up a swarm of bees from a safe distance.

I could easily shoot a plump spider in its web from 20 ft away. They splat more than you’d expect.

My brother used his gun for more nefarious purposes. He shot countless birds and squirrels out of trees. Worst of all, he would shoot wet piles of dog crap whenever I walked near them. I would often get a little splatter on me and come unglued.

I kept the seal oiled and never over-pumped it. My brother was always over-pumping his identical rifle. Strangely, mine got bad seals and stopped holding air and he still has his 20 years later. Hmmmmm. :-/

My 8 year old son, is like me. Can shoot anything. He loves his 760. At 10 meters he consistently hits a 1.5 inch square plate. As with everything, you get some losers and you get some winners. Don’t expect much from something that costs less than $100.00. But if you get a winner, stick with it.

The older versions of this gun are much better than the ones sold today. I shot a 20 year old one all last fall and mastered it. I could shoot a hawk down in mid air to the ground. I recently bought a new one for $30. Although pumping seemed easier, the accuracy and power is horrible. Worthless for hunting, ok for target practice if you are on a budget. I reccomend a good Gamo break barrel for serious air gunners. Crossman got cheap. Also, the older models were much easier to load pellets into. The newer ones make pellets impossible to load. Piece is crap.

for what this rifle cost, it is a good purchase. not super accurate or overly powerful but good for rats, pigions and such. I purchaced a nice scope(worth more than the rifle) to see if it would help out with all my ‘near misses’ Ill see what happens.
