I bought my Challenger new in 1984. I have used on and off for all this time. I have never stripped it down but kept the cylinder lubed with the Abbey gun oil it was supplied with. I put it on a chrono last week and it still produces very close to 12 ft/lbs. The adjustable barrel pin is a major improvement over the Mercury and the trigger and open sights are all metal. The maxi grip scope rail with built in arestor is an inspired piece of design. The stock although only high quality stained beech, has hand cut checkering on the pistol grip, this is a nice touch and very sharp compared to the pressed checkering on the Mercury S models. Rare as hens teeth, I have never seen another, a great piece of BSA history.
