The fit and finish are wonderful. This gun is a joy to hold and look at. when it comes to shooting it is amazing!!

Some of the other reviewers who were disapointed with the performance might not be familiar with “how to shoot a spring-piston rifle”. I am a marksman with several fire-arms and have been very good with several airguns in the past; but they were “pneumatic” and this was my first experience with a “spring-piston weapon”. I had the same problem at first but was willing to explore what I might be doing wrong and sure enough, it was me and not the rifle. At first it wouldn’t group and at times it was hard to even hit the target at all! all airguns (and small bore gun users as well) and especially spring-piston guns (less forgiving than any other type)should become familiar with “The Artillery Hold” which I understand is how most rifles should be shot anyway. But due to extremely high speed in firearms our shortcomings were hidden. here is a description:

“how to shoot a beeman R1”.

I hope this info is as helpful to you as it was for me, happy shooting!!

5 thumbs plus one more!!! I too have the rounded trigger guard. This rifle shoots like a dream!! Very accurate. I’ve got great results up to 45yards. I like the first and second stages on the trigger plus the the pull weight. I’ve got my set up very sensitive. Great power and nice “Thump”. No spring twang. I don’t know why the other guy has his panties in a bunch about being “Made In CHINA”, the BAM 26 is a chinese copy of the Beeman R-9. Beeman must have a good reason to have the Chinese make their rifles because they make a great product/copy. Better than any GAMO on the planet.

Note there are two versions of the SS1000. They can be distinguished by the trigger guard. The “good” one has an oval, rounded guard, with adjustable trigger, and the bad one has a squared-back tg with non-adjustable trig (this is the one often sold at Walmart and I think in the picture above). I have the good, rounded adjustable one, SS1000H in .177, sold as a combo with 3×9 scope.

It is an excellent value for the money. I only have about 800 rounds through this one, many at and through ground squirrels. Trigger is pretty tough out of the box but gets better with shooting and adjustment. Fit and finish were very good. It is a “chinese Beeman” which does not bother me in the least, and the quality standard seems to have been kept high. When a product is contract manufactured in China, the acceptance criteria is up to the buyer. It is possible that Beeman specified minimum finish standards, because this gun was much better out of the box than my other no-brand chinese shooter (which is also turning out well with patience and work).

Accuracy is very good. Cocking effort isn’t bad and assisted by the muzzle brake. Nothing has come loose, safety is positive, and the scope is actually pretty decent for the money. Using heavier ammo, even CPHPs, it stays sub sonic and shoots powerfully and well. At some point I will take it apart and see what can be improved. Unlike many imports, this is out of the box ready to shoot safely and well and is a very good value.

I bought the Beeman ss1000 after buying and RETURNING the Crosman Quest 1000x. The Quest was as promised: a powerful rifle good for plinking and small game hunting, but it was not very accurate at all.

After trying out the ss1000, it is “out of the box” better than the quest, both in accuracy and in finish. The Beeman quality is easily noticed. The wood stock and metal components are much nicer than that of the quest. Using the ss1000, I was able to hit pine cones at 20 yards w/ open sights. I am sure I can achieve even better accuracy with its 3-9×32 scope, which was included. All for $125 at Wal-Mart…great deal!

I am really not sure what is wrong with the rest of the beemans out there, but mine shoots like a dream. I can easily achieve a 1 inch group of five from about 50 yards, easily being the key word. I must add that this is not the same accuracy that I had ou of hte box. It took a few hundred rounds before it started shooting reliably. Plenty of power, rated for 1000fps, but with the right ammo (PBA raptor) that jumps to 1200fps ( which is enough to break the sound barrier which throws in the very cool and satisfying muzzle crack. all in all, i do recomend this rifle, but only if you are not a quiter, it takes a few shots for it to warm up to you. Last note, be sure to mount your scope level with the barrel, not the air chamber, that is the biggest mistake i see with people that have accuracy problems. Also, ammo choice can make a gun much more accurate. Cheap wal-mart stuff shoots like cheap wal-mart stuff, so spend a few extra dollars to get some reliable ammunition, after all, the gun is only half of the weapon(or a third if you count the wielder)

After reading the reviews on this airgun I had a hard time believing this rifle could be so inaccurate. I’m a 20-year engineer for the worlds largest precision instrument manufacturer in the world. I’ve owned a very inexpensive Daisy 880 which I was able to obtain excellent accuracies with so I was very optimistic when I herd this Beeman was much less accurate. So I purchased one from Walmart for $125.00. The model I purchased was 1053 and came with a 3 X 9 scope and claimed a 0.20″ ctc at 10 meters accuracy. I have not seen this particular model online. At first obtaining good accuracy was a little difficult but after shooting a hundred rounds the trigger started to get a little smoother and I was able to obtain the stated 0.20″ ctc at 10 meters accuracy with ease. I admit I did have to shim the scope to get the crosshairs within the range to adjust it properly. But now I’m able to shoot very tight groups with this rifle. For the money I’m very pleased because the accuracy is very good and I can’t complain about the power at all. Very powerful. If your willing to put a little time into this rifle it can be a wise investment for the money.

one thumb because of the look.

i got one frum the walton’s place for christmas. out of the box, its a nice piece of work visually. first time holding it felt like as if i was holding a block of 2X4. the sights were cheap and the gun was greasy.

then i tried it out in the backyard and to my dismay, while standing at 20 feet away, my groupings of ten shots were approximately 10 inches. i couldn’t sight it with sh*t so the next day i returned it and i was left with the feeling of not trusting this brand. maybe its just the individaul gun that i purchased.

It shoot so poorly I Dont’ even know whick way to adjust the scope. I took the scope off and tried the open sights and its the same i would say at best a 3 inch group at 30 feet and at 80 feet i had a hard time hitting a piece of plain white paper consistanly.

This gun is i dont know. I have a Gamo Shadow 1000 as my second rifle. First one was a Daisy pneumatic. And now i bought this Beeman. First i dont like the fact its MADE IN CHINA! Outa the box, the gun appears to be solid but a quit shake and you can tell something is wobbly in the gun. It definitely does shoot and kick harder than my gamo, but keep in mind that this is a brand new gun and ive had my gamo for a long while. Also, outa the box, for every single shot smoke comes out and theres this burning smell! I might returning this gun, well I AM.
