My first adult air rifle was the GAMO Whisper Royal. Not a bad gun, but the trigger is terrible and the scope was cheap and tended to move a lot. My second rifle, after reading MANY reviews, is the Beeman R9 Elite combo. This came with a Bushnell Banner 4-12 x 40 AO scope which was dialed in at 10 meters right out of the box. With Beeman Kodiak extra heavy .20 caliber pellets, this gun is incredibly accurate. I am getting spoiled by it and can tell you that next spring, the chipmunks will be in big trouble in my yard. This is one very well made and accurate rifle and I highly recommend it.

This gun is excellent in every way. I compare it to my RWS 45 and it is stronger shooting, smaller in length , lighter, and better built than the RWS. The R9 has a better trigger. On the RWS, the trigger is stamped steel and it works well. But if you look at the R9 it is billet, and a much finer set up.The seal on the breach is better. The wood is a little better even, overall it is just better. I notice the metalwork is better. Stamped steel on the RWS, solid on the R9 for the arm that pivots and cocks the spring. I would say it is the last big airgun I need in .177 caliber. I wish to get a .22 next Mine came with a BSA scope and it was dialed in! I can pick that rifle up and consistently hit the bulls eye better than others due to the accuracy, and size etc. It shoots straight. The RWS is a bit springy, has a lot of noise and less power so I bet a tune up on both would be a great idea. Does adding Moly to the springs need to be done ?

If you only had one rifle to buy as a “Jack of all Trades” this is the one. A very accurate hard hitting gun. I think it goes without saying that we have here a well made rifle that oozes quality.

If I could have a choice I would prefer to have the stock with the short forearm but alas that is not an option, regardless the R9 is well worth having in the gun cabinet.

If you are looking for an all around “best” springer, this is it! Typical HW quality in a high power easy to carry gun. The after market is overloaded with accessories. Good for hunting or field target, the light weight is a joy to carry in the field. Shoots hard in .177, harder if you put in a tune kit with all the bells and whistles! If you want just “one” gun, this is the one to get! So many are sold and the Chinese have cloned it for a good reason!
